1814 in present form. Castellated mansionhouse, square planwith round angle towers, of which one-third is part of the old
Castle of Balquholly. 3-storey 5-window entrance frontage
other frontages 4-window. Langley type gothic doorpiece with
shafted columns, battlemented parapet, towers raised slightly
higher with corbelled parapets. Low central crenellated tower.
Red rubble, thinly harled. Interior mainly of 1814: simple
classical, grand central staircase, dining and drawing rooms
apse-ended.
Entrance hall altered recently by Turnbull of Turriff, other
alterations at upper floors by W Duncan of Turriff 1901.
