Formerly dated 1561. Burned 1665 and restored, deserted 1885and now ruinous. Z-plan (earliest, or second earliest, known)
3-storey rubble-built with dormer heads, ground floor
unvaulted, 28' x 18' with 17' diameter circular towers
(polygonal internally) with corbelled stair turrets in angles
that at S.E. with 'G' (for Gordon) in lowest corbel. Later
S.E. wing shown in Giles and C. & D. Arch. now totally
demolished. Loophole with boar's head top and 1561 datestone
now at Knockospock House: moat completely drained.
